At Persistent Systems, our mission to network the battlefield goes beyond delivering life-saving communications technology—it extends to building a strong community that connects and supports current and former service members.

In honor of this year’s Veterans Day, we extend our deepest gratitude to all who have served, especially the veterans who are part of our Persistent family, for their dedication and sacrifice.

While we can never fully express our appreciation to the men and women who have served, we at Persistent are honored to come to work each day in support of the warfighter. Our commitment to veterans is strengthened by the contributions and leadership of our own veteran team members.

At Persistent, we strive to create an environment where our veteran team members experience the same camaraderie they valued during their service through community involvement, veteran outreach, and mentorship opportunities.

A Veteran’s Journey to Persistent

Veterans who are transitioning from active service or seeking new opportunities are often encouraged to join Persistent by other veterans already on our team. One such team member is Paul Hoffrichter, a 23-year veteran of the U.S. Navy.

“When I spoke with friends already at Persistent, it was clear everyone shared the same mindset: working hard, taking care of each other, and being fully committed to developing technology that makes a difference,” said Hoffrichter. “That sense of teamwork reminded me of my time in service, and I knew it was a place where I’d belong.”

Hoffrichter joined Persistent in June 2024 as a Project Manager, overseeing the integration of the company’s Wave Relay® Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET) into unmanned systems. This role was a natural fit; during his Navy career, Hoffrichter served as an electronics technician, leading the planning and coordination of shipboard communications networks. Now, in civilian life, he continues to share his transition experience to help other service members navigate their own paths forward.

Supporting the Broader Veteran Community

In addition to providing mentorship and professional development opportunities within the company, Persistent is proud to support a wide range of veteran-focused organizations and initiatives:

  • Operation Gratitude: In May, our NYC office’s philanthropy committee organized a card collection for this public charity dedicated to saying “thank you” to all who serve.
  • Military Appreciation in the Parks: As part of our ongoing work with the U.S. Air Force, our team at Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota, many of whom are veterans, gave back to their community by serving food at this annual event.
  • The Bodhi Battalion: Our Colorado office hosted its second annual 5K run in May to support The Bodhi Battalion, a nonprofit serving veterans and first responders by connecting individuals with service dogs through its “Providing Treatment Through Service Dogs (PTSD)” program. Introduced to Persistent by one of our veteran employees, Dakota Smith, the organization received a $4,000 donation to help fund its mission.
  • Sea Cadets: This year, we welcomed a group of U.S. Navy Sea Cadets to our NYC headquarters. During their visit, team members shared stories from their military service, provided mentorship, and introduced the cadets to our technology, helping to inspire the next generation of service members.
  • The Honor Foundation: A long-term partner of Persistent, The Honor Foundation provides career transition support for U.S. Special Operations Forces. Through this partnership, several of our veteran employees mentor transitioning service members by reviewing resumes, refining LinkedIn profiles, and conducting mock interviews.
  • Home Base: Each year, five members of our team run the New York City Marathon in support of Home Base, a nonprofit dedicated to healing the invisible wounds of war. Their participation helps raise awareness and donations for this important cause.

Recognition of Our Veteran Commitment

With approximately 135 veteran team members across the company, our dedication to the military community continues to have a lasting positive impact.

Earlier this month, Persistent Systems received the Hire Vets Platinum Medallion Award from the U.S. Department of Labor for the third consecutive year. This federal award recognizes employers who excel at recruiting, hiring, and retaining veterans.

First awarded to Persistent in 2023, the distinction reaffirms our position as an employer of choice for veterans and underscores our ongoing commitment to helping them succeed in civilian careers.

A Lasting Bond

As we honor those who have served, we celebrate the strength of the veteran community we’ve built—and remain committed to supporting their continued success at Persistent Systems.
