Company brings together more than 400 Wave Relay® MANET users from 20+ countries to discuss future of multi-national interoperability
Persistent Systems, LLC (“Persistent”), a leader in mobile ad hoc networking (MANET) technology, hosted its third annual Technical Exchange Meeting (TEM) for Wave Relay® MANET end users and Ecosystem partners at the Duggal Greenhouse at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, from March 10-11.
The theme of this year’s TEM, Building Secure Multinational Networks, addressed a critical hurdle in modern defense: enabling allied forces to communicate on a shared infrastructure without compromising individual national data privacy.
“At Persistent, our vision is a global communication fabric where coalition forces can maintain both connectivity and security simultaneously,” said Dr. Herbert Rubens, CEO and Founder of Persistent Systems. “This also applies to public safety missions, where multiple organizations and nations can operate across a common area, on a common network, while keeping their data private.”
The event featured a keynote address from General (Ret.) James E. Rainey, who highlighted the transformative role of autonomous systems and artificial intelligence in future conflicts spanning service levels and partner nations.
“It starts with the data layer,” said General (Ret.) Rainey. “We need industry to help the Department of War (DoW) move to a data-centric architecture across service-level, joint-forces, and partner-nation networks so that we can leverage AI as a decisive advantage.”
This emphasis on data-driven decision-making across coalition networks aligns directly with Persistent’s vision for Combined Joint All-Domain Command and Control (CJADC2) operations, in which coalition forces can communicate on a single network by leveraging existing MANET infrastructure.
By bringing together more than 400 Wave Relay® MANET users and Ecosystem partners from over 20 nations, the event fostered collaboration among government, military, and industry participants. Other discussions at the TEM included:
Throughout the event, members of the Wave Relay® Ecosystem demonstrated their uncrewed ground vehicles (UGVs), uncrewed aerial systems (UAVs), sensors, and cameras integrated with Wave Relay® MANET networks. Additionally, Persistent’s training team was available throughout the event, showcasing the company’s new online training portal and answering end-user questions.
The insights from this exchange will directly inform Persistent’s research & development roadmap, to continue leading the shift towards secure, multi-organizational communications networks.
